Basil Strickland is a Kenyon College Class of 2026 graduate who studied Psychology.

Research interests: I'm a recent Kenyon graduate who is currently working for Yale conducting a smoking cessation clinical trial. I'm interested in public health and specifically how to best treat and support people who wish to reduce their substance usage.

Previous research experience: I collaborated with multiple psychology professors within and outside of Kenyon on a variety of qualitative, quantitative, and review projects.

How I got started: I found my current postgraduate opportunity through a mentor at Ohio State. I was able to work at Ohio State through the Kenyon OSU-5 SURE program which provides opportunity for undergraduate students to work in a lab at an R1 research institution. Through this lab, I was able to learn more about addiction research and also conduct an independent literature review project which I later published with the assistance of my mentors. One of my collaborators on this literature review project and research mentor from Ohio State forwarded this job posting to me and I submitted a cover letter and resume.
