Science & Health
Amelia Stevenson is a Kenyon College Class of 2027 student studying Molecular Biology.
Research interests: I am interested in research focused on women’s health and endocrinology, particularly how hormonal regulation influences reproductive health and overall health outcomes. I am especially interested in understanding the biological mechanisms underlying conditions that disproportionately affect women and exploring ways research can improve their prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
Previous research experience: I have research experience in both academic and industry settings. At Kenyon College, I have conducted research investigating the effects of chlorophenol red dye in Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, with a focus on xenobiotic transfer and potential transporter mechanisms. I also previously worked with a maternal-fetal health research group at Johnson & Johnson, contributing to research related to anti-HPA1a interference and maternal-fetal health.
How I got started: I first got involved in research at Kenyon by reaching out to my first-semester chemistry professor because I was interested in his research and wanted to gain hands-on experience. I later applied for a summer research internship at Johnson & Johnson, where I was placed with an immunology research group and gained experience in an industry research setting.
