Andrew Adams is a Kenyon College Class of 2028 student studying Biology.
Research interests: I’m interested in the seasonal reproductive pathway of the bryophyte Physcomitrium patens, and the genes involved in this process.
Previous research experience: I have started working on a plasmid containing a RUBY reporter that can be integrated into P. Patens specimens to observe when certain reproductive genes are active in response to temperature and day length cues. I also presented a 4 minute lightning talk on my progress from the semester.
How I got started: I was looking for a Biology advisor as I wanted to declare my major. I met with a few professors that I had heard were involved in research, all whom I had heard about through friends or classmates. I ended up liking my current lab a lot and I went to a few lab group meetings and journal clubs before officially joining the next semester.
Looking for: Summer research programs
Skills / methods: Data collection, wet lab work, reading/interpreting scientific papers, poster presentation
Open to being contacted: Yes
Preferred contact: andrewadams4786@gmail.com
